Association of Women Soil ScientistsAWSS is a 501(c)(6) nonprofit organization of women and men in soil science who support these goals:

1. To establish and maintain high standards for professional women soil scientists;
2. To promote and enhance communication among professional soil scientists;
3. To promote a dialog of soil information and to encourage an interchange with other technical and scientific communities;
4. To promote better understanding of the role of soil scientists;
5. To provide assistance and encouragement for women in non-traditional fields and for women seeking employment in the field of soil science.

International Union of Soil Sciences—The global union of soil scientists. Its objectives are to foster all branches of the soil sciences and their applications, and to give support to soil scientists in the pursuit of their activities. Any interested soil scientist may participate in the activities of the Union; there is no need to be an individual member because scientists are represented by national members. In the United States, the National Academy of Sciences is the IUSS national member, representing all U.S. soil scientists regardless of professional society membership through its U.S. National Committee for Soil Science.

Soil & Water Conservation Society (SWCS)—An international, nonprofit, multidisciplinary organization for anyone interested in natural resource management and conservation. Its mission is to advocate the protection, enhancement, and wise use of soil, water, and related natural resources to achieve sustainability.

Society of Wetland Scientists—An international organization of about 3,500 members dedicated to fostering sound wetland science, education, and management.

U.S. National Committee for Soil Science—Represents the interests of the U.S. soil science community in the International Union of Soil Sciences (IUSS), a scientific union member of the International Council for Science (ICSU).
